Horses can be rented in the vicinity. Ten minutes from Barbate is the famous white town of Vejer, perched on a hill with spectacular views over the country side.

Also ten minutes from Barbate is the superb new golf course at Montemedio with its international horse competition complex with more than a thousand stables. The area around Barbate is a paradise for nature lovers, birdwatchers, mountain bikers and hikers.

In summer Barbate is known for its nightlife which lasts until dawn. The visitor can explore the various fish restaurants of the town or Zahara, or, for meat lovers there are a several good country restaurants nearby in Vejer or La Muela.
